The Bureau of Fire Protection Region 9 (BFP R9) proudly announced that Region 9, also known as the Zamboanga Peninsula, celebrated the holiday season with no firecracker-related fire incident.

F/SSUPT RENATO BADONG MARCIAL, BFP R9 Regional Director, lauded the efforts of BFP R9 officers and personnel during the BFP R9 2022 1st Command Conference held last January 11, 2022, for this back-to-back success of the BFP with combined forces of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Local Government Unit (LGU), and Department of Health (DOH).

“Isa itong patunay na matagumpay ang Oplan Paalala Iwas Paputok na ipinapatupad ng BFP tuwing papalapit ang kapaskuhan at mas pinapaigting sa pagsapit ng bagong taon.” Marcial said.

Oplan Paalala Iwas Paputok is a yuletide season information campaign of the BFP against destructive fire caused by firecrackers and fireworks. BFP personnel are doing the rounds in barangays up until New Year’s Eve to remind the public to refrain from the use of firecrackers in their festivities to avoid unwanted injuries and accidents.

“We, in the BFP R9, are happy to welcome 2022 with this success! Especially that this record of zero firecracker-related fire incident in Region 9 is already on its 3rd year.” Marcial added.

Moreover, with the rising of Covid-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) particularly the fast-spreading Omicron virus, Marcial reminded his personnel to take extra precautions by observing the health protocols laid down by the DOH. Likewise, he lauded the efforts of his men who were part of the vaccination team in some parts of the region.
